Do You Have What it Takes?

As there often is in all facets of life, in the fitness industry there seems, for many, to be a disconnect between desire and perseverance. It is easy to desire a healthier you; whether it is the short term goal of getting a summer body together and keeping it together down the road, or improving your health so that you can bring down your blood pressure and battle heart disease; whatever it is, the desire to get into shape and stay there must also be accompanied by the discipline of perseverance. I see people everyday who are obviously not comfortable in their own skin or happy with the definitive measurements of their own body. I often ask myself the simple question: Why?
I want to tell you that time is not the issue. Not having enough time to commit to something of value is the most overused excuse known to man because it is difficult to rebut. Who can argue with that? I will because I know better and so do you. You have time to watch an hour of television and surf the web for two. You have time to get on fb and read and comment about nonsense, you have time to take picctures on instagram of nothing but foolishness, you have time to go out 3 times a week and club hop with freinds, oh you have plenty of time. You are simply preoccupied with other things. You may not have enough time to work out for two hours 5 days a week, but you have time to begin the process of implementing a fitness program and you have the time to implement a nutrition program. For whatever reason, most people simply choose not to. Understand that there is a small sample of balance between the place where we are comfortable and achieving no results and the place we allow ourselves to become uncomfortable and experience real definitive change. You cannot live in both worlds. This is not only true with fitness but life in general. You don't have to hire a personal trainer or join a cross fit gym, you just need to be able to commit to a better you and see it through, no matter how uncomfortable it gets. The only thing holding you back is you. It's not the government, it's not your job, it's not your family, it's not your friends. If you want to improve your lifestyle, then by necessity you must include your fitness and health. Do it.
